Even if that's not an option, a rogue with a finesse-based weapon, or a ranged weapon with modifiers DEX-based, is already a nice and reliable source of damage both in melee or at range. Do good damage in combat: Through sneak attack. Not well-versed in 5e rules (As in, I haven't read them yet.) so I won't go into specific recommendations, just outline how MY thought process would go were I in your shoes. At some point I'd probably swap sleep out for one of those as well, since it doesn't scale well with level. ![]() I'd go with charm person, disguise self, or silent image, in that order. Or faerie fire, which is a nice little combat buff and also helps to deal with invisible or hiding enemies. I might go with something that keeps its value better, perhaps something fun like find familiar? A bat would give you access to blindsight, or an owl can do flyby Help actions to get you Advantage. Usually a crossbow bolt + Sneak Attack will be a better bet, though there are wraiths and things that will prove tricky. From what I've seen there aren't actually many damage vulnerabilities, but I've only played at low levels. I'd probably skip blade ward, if you want to spend your action defensively, just Dodge.Ĭhromatic orb is reasonable, if a bit unsubtle. Minor illusion, friends, message, light are my favorites, in that order. You can't Sneak Attack with a cantrip, so you'll want utility spells primarily. ![]()
